The devotees who have joined the Kṛṣṇa consciousness movement may live comfortably in our many temples and engage in the devotional service of the Lord. Thus they can control the mind and senses and achieve the highest success in life. This is the process descending from time immemorial. Learning from the life of Ajāmila, we should vow with determination to do what is necessary to follow this path.
This verse describes pratyāhāra as drawing the senses back from their objects so the mind can be fixed within—an essential step for steady meditation and spiritual reform.
After being saved and transformed, Ajāmila takes shelter in the Lord’s abode and lives a disciplined life, showing that genuine repentance leads to regulated spiritual practice and inner absorption.
Reduce sensory overload, set daily time for prayer/meditation, and redirect attention from distractions to remembrance of the Divine—training the mind to become steady and inwardly focused.
