This mantra is very important. Anyone engaged in Deity worship should chant this mantra, as quoted above, beginning with oṁ namo bhagavate mahā-puruṣāya.
This verse instructs that one should worship Viṣṇu day after day with focused mind, offering standard services like invocation, water offerings (arghya, pādya), bathing, clothing, ornaments, fragrance, flowers, incense, lamps, and food.
In the context of the Pumsavana-vrata, Śukadeva explains the proper devotional procedure—mantra and offerings—by which a devotee worships Lord Viṣṇu to obtain divine blessings through regulated bhakti.
Chant the mantra daily with attention and offer simple items available—water, a flower, a lamp, and food—while maintaining sincerity and steady remembrance of Viṣṇu.
