Dadhīci’s Supreme Charity and the Opening of Indra’s War with Vṛtrāsura
अपि वृन्दारका यूयं न जानीथ शरीरिणाम् । संस्थायां यस्त्वभिद्रोहो दु:सहश्चेतनापह: ॥ ३ ॥
api vṛndārakā yūyaṁ na jānītha śarīriṇām saṁsthāyāṁ yas tv abhidroho duḥsahaś cetanāpahaḥ
高き天界の神々よ、知らぬのか。死の時、耐え難い激痛が肉体を持つすべての生きものの意識を奪うのである。
This verse states that enmity among embodied beings is unbearable and, more importantly, it steals one’s consciousness—making spiritual clarity and right action difficult.
During the battle, Vṛtrāsura instructs the devas with spiritual insight, reminding them that embodied life easily falls into hostility, which clouds awareness and leads to deeper bondage.
By recognizing that resentment degrades clarity, one can consciously choose forgiveness, restraint in speech and action, and remembrance of God—protecting one’s awareness from being consumed by conflict.
