Nārāyaṇa’s Impartiality, Absorption in Kṛṣṇa, and the Jaya–Vijaya Descent
Prelude to Prahlāda’s History
śrī-bādarāyaṇir uvāca rājñas tad vaca ākarṇya nārado bhagavān ṛṣiḥ tuṣṭaḥ prāha tam ābhāṣya śṛṇvatyās tat-sadaḥ kathāḥ
This verse highlights Bhagavata-kathā being heard by the entire assembly, indicating that hearing sacred narration is central to devotion and draws forth enlightened instruction from sages like Nārada.
Because the king’s inquiry set the context for spiritual instruction; pleased by the question, Nārada addressed him and continued the narrative for the benefit of all listeners present.
Seek and regularly hear authentic spiritual teachings in good association; sincere questions and attentive listening invite deeper guidance and strengthen bhakti.
