Mahārāja Sagara, Kapila Muni, and the Deliverance of the Sixty Thousand Sons
yo ’samañjasa ity uktaḥ sa keśinyā nṛpātmajaḥ tasya putro ’ṁśumān nāma pitāmaha-hite rataḥ
This verse identifies Asamañjasa as a prince (the king’s son) born from Keśinī, within the dynasty being described in Canto 9, Chapter 8.
It means “devoted to the welfare of his grandfather,” describing Aṁśumān as focused on accomplishing what would benefit his grandfather.
It highlights responsible service to family elders—acting with integrity and concern for their welfare, rather than self-interest.
