Ambarīṣa’s Prayers to Sudarśana and the Deliverance of Durvāsā
sudarśana namas tubhyaṁ sahasrārācyuta-priya sarvāstra-ghātin viprāya svasti bhūyā iḍaspate
This verse addresses Sudarśana as “destroyer of all weapons” and shows him acting as the Lord’s protective force, capable of neutralizing threats and restoring auspiciousness.
In this narrative, Sudarśana confronts Durvāsā Muni yet still invokes welfare for the brāhmaṇa, demonstrating that the Lord’s protection upholds dharma and respects brāhmaṇas even while correcting offense.
It teaches devotional humility and restraint: even when defending truth, one should wish well for others and seek auspicious resolution rather than revenge.
