Nābhāga’s Inheritance, Śiva’s Verdict, and the Rise of Ambarīṣa—Prelude to Durvāsā’s Offense
yajña-vāstu-gataṁ sarvam ucchiṣṭam ṛṣayaḥ kvacit cakrur hi bhāgaṁ rudrāya sa devaḥ sarvam arhati
This verse states that sages would sometimes assign Rudra a portion of the sacrificial remnants, affirming that Śiva is worthy of honor and offerings within the sacrificial context.
Because Rudra is described here as a deva who is fully deserving; giving him a share reflects proper Vedic etiquette and dharma in conducting sacrifice.
Treat sacred food (prasāda) and worship remnants with reverence, and cultivate respect for exalted devotees and divine authorities rather than acting with sectarian contempt.
