brāhmaṁ pādmaṁ vaiṣṇavaṁ ca śaivaṁ laiṅgaṁ sa-gāruḍaṁ nāradīyaṁ bhāgavatam āgneyaṁ skānda-saṁjñitam
Śrīla Jīva Gosvāmī has quoted from the Varāha Purāṇa, Śiva Purāṇa and Matsya Purāṇa in confirmation of the above two verses.
In Canto 12, Chapter 7, Śukadeva Gosvāmī enumerates the Purāṇas, including the Bhāgavata, as part of describing Purāṇic literature.
Śukadeva is presenting the traditional catalog of Purāṇas; the Bhāgavata is included as one of the Mahāpurāṇas within that broader scriptural framework.
It helps a student of bhakti recognize the wider Purāṇic canon while understanding the Bhāgavata’s place within Vedic literature, encouraging systematic study rather than confusion about sources.
