Balarāma Slays Balvala and Visits Sacred Tīrthas; He Attempts to Stop Bhīma–Duryodhana
tato ’medhya-mayaṁ varṣaṁ balvalena vinirmitam abhavad yajña-śālāyāṁ so ’nvadṛśyata śūla-dhṛk
Balvala is a demon who disrupted the sages’ sacrifice by causing a disgusting shower of impurities to fall upon the yajña arena and then appearing armed with a trident.
The verse shows the classic Purāṇic motif of demonic forces opposing dharma—here, Balvala tries to defile and obstruct the sacred sacrifice performed by the sages.
Maintain purity and steadiness in worship; when spiritual life is disturbed by negativity or distraction, one should seek protection through devotion, discipline, and support of saintly association.
