Duryodhana’s Envy at Yudhiṣṭhira’s Rājasūya and the Avabhṛtha Festival
श्रीबादरायणिरुवाच पितामहस्य ते यज्ञे राजसूये महात्मन: । बान्धवा: परिचर्यायां तस्यासन्प्रेमबन्धना: ॥ ३ ॥
śrī-bādarāyaṇir uvāca pitāmahasya te yajñe rājasūye mahātmanaḥ bāndhavāḥ paricaryāyāṁ tasyāsan prema-bandhanāḥ
シュリー・バーダラーヤニは言った。「あなたの聖なる祖父のラージャスーヤ大祭において、親族たちは祖父への愛の絆に結ばれ、へりくだって奉仕に励んでいた。」
King Yudhiṣṭhira did not force his relatives to accept different tasks at the sacrifice. Rather, out of their love for him they volunteered for such duties.
This verse describes the Rājasūya sacrifice of Yudhiṣṭhira, emphasizing that his relatives joyfully took up service roles, united by affection during the sacred ceremony.
Because Yudhiṣṭhira is Parīkṣit’s grandfather; Śukadeva addresses Parīkṣit directly (“your grandfather”) to anchor the narration in Parīkṣit’s family history.
Serve family, community, and spiritual practice with affection rather than obligation—turning duty into seva (loving service), which strengthens unity and purity of intention.
