Kṛṣṇa Defeats Bāṇāsura and Receives Śiva’s Prayers
The Śoṇitapura Battle and the Jvara Episode
śṛī-śuka uvāca apaśyatāṁ cāniruddhaṁ tad-bandhūnāṁ ca bhārata catvāro vārṣikā māsā vyatīyur anuśocatām
This verse states that Aniruddha was not seen by his relatives, who grieved for him, and that four months of the rainy season passed during their lamentation.
Śukadeva addresses King Parīkṣit by his dynastic epithet ‘Bhārata’ (descendant of Bharata) while narrating the episode, maintaining the traditional respectful address used throughout the Bhagavatam’s dialogue.
It highlights how time continues to pass in grief; devotees can remember to seek steadiness through remembrance of the Lord and purposeful action rather than being consumed by prolonged lamentation.
