गृहादनपगं वीक्ष्य राजपुत्र्योऽच्युतं स्थितम् । प्रेष्ठं न्यमंसत स्वं स्वं न तत्तत्त्वविद: स्त्रिय: ॥ २ ॥
gṛhād anapagaṁ vīkṣya rāja-putryo ’cyutaṁ sthitam preṣṭhaṁ nyamaṁsata svaṁ svaṁ na tat-tattva-vidaḥ striyaḥ
王女たちは、アチュタがそれぞれの宮殿を決して離れずにおられるのを見て、各々が「自分こそ最も愛されている」と思った。だが彼女たちは、主の真実の本質を十分には悟っていなかった。
Śrīla Viśvanātha Cakravartī Ṭhākura notes that Lord Kṛṣṇa would leave the palaces only with the permission of His wives, and thus each one considered herself His favorite.
Because Kṛṣṇa’s divine presence naturally captivates the heart; not knowing His supreme identity, they still felt Him to be the most desirable beloved.

Worldly attraction is incomplete without understanding the true nature of the object of love; directing one’s longing toward Kṛṣṇa through devotion brings that love to its rightful fulfillment.
