Kṛṣṇa Arrives at Kuṇḍina and Abducts Rukmiṇī
Rukmiṇī-haraṇa Prelude
आसाद्य देवीसदनं धौतपादकराम्बुजा । उपस्पृश्य शुचि: शान्ता प्रविवेशाम्बिकान्तिकम् ॥ ४४ ॥
āsādya devī-sadanaṁ dhauta-pāda-karāmbujā upaspṛśya śuciḥ śāntā praviveśāmbikāntikam
女神の神殿に着くと、ルクミニーはまず蓮華のような足と手を洗い、ついで浄めのためにアーチャマナの水を口に含んだ。かくして清らかに静まり、母アンビカーの御前に入った。
In the narrative, Rukmiṇī goes to the Goddess’s temple as part of traditional worship and prayerful preparation, approaching with purity and composure before the decisive events of her union with Kṛṣṇa.
It indicates ritual purification—touching water/performing ācamana—after which one becomes “śuciḥ,” clean and fit to enter the deity’s presence.
It teaches approaching worship with cleanliness, calmness, and reverence—preparing body and mind before prayer, temple visits, or any sacred practice.
