Uddhava Meets the Gopīs: Bhramara-gītā and Kṛṣṇa’s Message of Separation
apy eṣyatīha dāśārhas taptāḥ sva-kṛtayā śucā sañjīvayan nu no gātrair yathendro vanam ambudaiḥ
This verse shows the gopīs describing their viraha (separation) as burning grief, and expressing that only Krishna’s return and personal presence can revive their lives—like rain revives a dried forest.
“Dāśārha” is an epithet for Krishna as a descendant of the Daśārha/Yadu line; the gopīs invoke Him by a royal lineage-name while longing for the same Krishna who once lived intimately among them in Vraja.
It encourages a devotee to turn pain of distance into intensified remembrance—seeking revival through Krishna’s presence via sincere nāma-japa, hearing Bhāgavatam, and steady longing rather than distraction.
