Dakṣa’s Sacrifice Restored: Śiva’s Mercy and Nārāyaṇa’s Appearance
evaṁ dākṣāyaṇī hitvā satī pūrva-kalevaram jajñe himavataḥ kṣetre menāyām iti śuśruma
Menā is also known as Menakā and is the wife of the king of the Himālayas.
This verse states that Satī abandoned her previous body and later took birth again in Himavān’s region as the daughter of Menā—indicating her rebirth as Pārvatī.
It completes the narrative arc following Dakṣa’s offense: Satī left her body, and the Bhagavatam notes her subsequent birth, linking the events of Dakṣa’s sacrifice to the later appearance of Pārvatī.
The verse highlights resilience and spiritual continuity—when circumstances become irredeemably harmful, one should uphold dignity and devotion, and trust that sincere purpose can unfold anew through time.
