ऊर्ध्वमूलमधःशाखमश्वत्थं प्राहुरव्ययं छन्दांसि यस्य पर्णानि यस्तं वेद स वेदवित्
ūrdhvamūlamadhaḥśākhamaśvatthaṃ prāhuravyayaṃ chandāṃsi yasya parṇāni yastaṃ veda sa vedavit
不滅のアシュヴァッタ(aśvattha)は、根が上にあり枝が下にあると説かれる。その葉はヴェーダの韻律(chandas)である。かの樹を真に知る者こそ、ヴェーダを知る者である。
