FAQs

It imparts technical Sanskrit military vocabulary—synonyms for elephant-riders/mahouts and for warriors—useful for precise usage in Dhanurveda- and rajadharma-related descriptions.

By cataloguing specialized synonyms and grammatical notes (like non-feminine usage), it functions as a compact reference tool—alongside sections on warfare, governance, medicine, and poetics—showing the Purana’s encyclopedic intent.

Its primary purpose is instructional rather than ritual: correct terminology supports accurate recitation, teaching, and transmission of sacred and technical knowledge, which traditional dharma views as meritorious learning (vidyā-dāna/adhyayana).
