Agastya’s request for wealth and the decision to seek resources from Ilvala

He had the power to summon, merely by uttering a name, any being who had gone to the abode of Vaivasvata (Yama). That person would then take up a body again and be seen once more as living. In the narrative, this extraordinary ability highlights a troubling misuse of power: reversing death by command, not for dharma or compassion, but as a display of control—thereby unsettling the moral order guarded by Yama.

The verse implicitly contrasts extraordinary power with dharma: even if one can manipulate life and death, using such power to override the rightful order of Yama without righteous purpose is ethically suspect and destabilizes cosmic law.
A figure is described as having the ability to call back someone who has gone to Yama’s realm; upon being summoned by name, the departed appears again as living, having re-assumed a body.
