Brahmaṇānāṃ Yācanā—Tīrtha-yātrā-prastāvaḥ

The Brahmanas’ Petition and the Proposal of Pilgrimage

tat samantraṃ sasaṃhāraṃ saprāyaścittamaṅgalam | vajrāstrāṇi cānyāni daṇḍādīni yudhiṣṭhira ||

Vaiśampāyana said: “O Yudhiṣṭhira, Arjuna obtained those formidable, thunderbolt-like weapons of Rudra—complete with their mantras, the proper method of withdrawal, and the rites of expiation and auspicious preliminaries. He also gained other weapons as well, such as those beginning with the staff (daṇḍa).” The verse underscores that power is not merely acquired but must be governed by disciplined knowledge—how to invoke, restrain, and atone—so that martial force remains within the bounds of dharma.
