Vaiśaṃpāyana said: “For he is a hero—deeply devoted, capable and effective, rich in ascetic merit, and accomplished in righteous conduct. He is exceedingly skilled in the science of weapons, and in his commanding presence he is like Vāsudeva (Kṛṣṇa) himself.”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse praises an ideal warrior-leader: devotion and loyalty (anurāga), practical capability (sāmarthya), inner discipline and merit (tapas), and refined mastery of arms—showing that true authority is grounded in virtue and self-control, not merely force.
Vaiśaṃpāyana describes a particular hero’s qualities to the listener, emphasizing his devotion, strength, ascetic merit, and exceptional weapon-skill, and elevates him by comparing his commanding presence to Vāsudeva (Kṛṣṇa).
