Pulastya said: “A man who reaches the river Karatoyā, bathes there, and observes a fast for three nights attains the merit of the Aśvamedha sacrifice. This is an ordinance established by Prajāpati (Brahmā).” The verse frames pilgrimage and disciplined self-restraint as ethically potent acts, presenting austerity and purity of conduct as accessible means to great religious merit.
