Dhaumya’s Enumeration of Eastern Tīrthas
Prācī-diś Tīrtha-kathana
yathā bhagīratho rājā yathā rāmaś ca viśrutaḥ | tathā tvaṁ sarvarājabhyo bhrājase raśmivān iva, nṛpaśreṣṭha |
Nārada said: “Just as King Bhagīratha is renowned, and just as Rāma is celebrated, so too do you outshine all other kings, O best of rulers—radiant like the sun with its rays. Your splendor is grounded in dharma, as in the cases of the righteous exemplars of old.”

True royal brilliance is not merely power or wealth but dharma-based conduct; a king becomes ‘radiant’ among peers when his rule aligns with righteousness, like celebrated exemplars such as Bhagīratha and Rāma.
Nārada addresses a foremost king and offers laudatory counsel, elevating him by comparing his dharmic splendor to famous righteous rulers (Bhagīratha and Rāma), portraying him as shining above other kings like the sun.
