Dhaumya’s Enumeration of Eastern Tīrthas
Prācī-diś Tīrtha-kathana
शूद्र मनोवांछित वस्तुएँ पाता है और ब्राह्मण इसका पाठ करे तो वह समस्त शास्त्रोंका पारंगत विद्वान होता है। जो मनुष्य तीर्थोके इस पुण्य माहात्म्यको प्रतिदिन सुनता है वह पवित्र हो पहलेके अनेक जन्मोंकी बातें याद कर लेता है और देहत्यागके पश्चात् स्वर्गलोकमें आनन्दका अनुभव करता है। भीष्म! मैंने यहाँ गम्य और अगम्य सभी प्रकारके तीर्थोंका वर्णन किया है ।। मनसा तानि गच्छेत सर्वतीर्थसमी क्षया । एतानि वसुभि: साध्यैरादित्यैर्मरुदश्विभि:
manasā tāni gacchet sarvatīrthasamīkṣayā | etāni vasubhiḥ sādhyair ādityair marud-aśvibhiḥ ||
Pulastya said: “By the mind alone one may go to those sacred fords, gaining the full merit of visiting all tīrthas. These holy places are revered and upheld by the Vasus, the Sādhyas, the Ādityas, the Maruts, and the Aśvins. O Bhīṣma, I have here described every kind of tīrtha—both accessible and difficult to reach.”
