“Proceed to the sacred ford renowned as ‘Damī,’ celebrated for destroying all sins. There, Brahmā and the other gods worship Maheśvara (Śiva).” The verse frames pilgrimage as an ethical discipline: turning away from wrongdoing through reverence, restraint, and devotion at a place sanctified by divine worship.
घुलस्त्य उवाच
The verse teaches that sincere pilgrimage and worship—especially at a sanctified tīrtha—functions as moral purification: it redirects the mind from harmful actions toward restraint, reverence, and devotion, symbolized by the gods themselves worshipping Śiva.
The speaker gives guidance to go to the tīrtha named Damī, famed for removing sins, and notes its exalted status by stating that Brahmā and other deities worship Maheśvara there.
