“I am Bhīṣma, whose vision never fails. Tell me—what shall I do for you? O best of the Kurus, whatever you ask, that I will grant you, O blameless one.”
घुलस्त्य उवाच
The verse highlights ethical generosity and respectful speech: a powerful elder offers help without deceit, framing aid as a dharmic commitment—whatever is rightly requested will be granted.
A figure identifying himself as Bhīṣma addresses a Kuru noble with honorifics and offers a boon or assistance, inviting the other to state his wish and promising to fulfill it.
