वयसा तुल्यतां प्राप्ता सखी तव भवत्वियम् | एतया सह मोदस्व निरुद्धिग्नमना: सदा,“यह अवस्थामें तुम्हारे समान है, अतः तुम्हारी सखी होकर रहे। तुम इसके साथ सदा प्रसन्नचित्त एवं आनन्दमग्न रहो”
vayasā tulyatāṃ prāptā sakhī tava bhavatv iyam | etayā saha modasva niruddhignamanāḥ sadā |
Bṛhadaśva said: “She has reached an age equal to yours; therefore let her remain as your companion and friend. Live with her in gladness—ever keeping your mind free from distress and constraint.”
बृहदश्चव उवाच
The verse advises cultivating supportive companionship and maintaining a mind free from distress—an ethical emphasis on emotional steadiness and social bonds as aids to dharma in difficult circumstances.
Bṛhadaśva instructs the listener to accept a girl/woman of the same age as a close companion and to live with her cheerfully, indicating a deliberate arrangement meant to comfort, stabilize, and restore joy.
