अपि वा स्वयमागच्छेत् परिधावन्नितस्ततः । इहैव वसती भठद्रे भर्तारमुपलप्स्यसे,“अथवा यह भी सम्भव है, वे इधर-उधर भटकते हुए स्वयं ही इधर आ निकलें। भद्रे! तुम यहीं रहकर अपने पतिको प्राप्त कर लोगी”
api vā svayam āgacchet paridhāvann itas tataḥ | ihaiva vasatī bhadre bhartāram upalapsyase ||
Bṛhadaśva said: “Or it may happen that he himself, wandering here and there, will come to this very place. O gentle lady, by staying right here you will regain your husband.” The counsel emphasizes steadiness and prudent patience: rather than being driven by fear into restless searching, one should hold to a safe course and trust that rightful reunion can occur without abandoning one’s proper station.
बृहदश्चव उवाच
Maintain steadiness and prudent patience in distress: do not be driven into anxious, aimless movement; staying in a secure, appropriate place can itself become the means of rightful reunion.
Bṛhadaśva reassures a woman separated from her husband, suggesting that the husband—wandering in search—may come there on his own, and that by remaining where she is, she will meet him again.
