वरानेवं प्रदायास्य देवास्ते त्रिदिवं गता: । पार्थिवाश्चानु भूयास्य विवाहं विस्मयान्विता:
varānevaṃ pradāyāsya devās te tridivaṃ gatāḥ | pārthivāścānubhūyāsya vivāhaṃ vismayānvitāḥ ||
Bṛhadaśva said: “Having thus granted him the boons, those gods departed for heaven. And the earthly kings too, having witnessed that marriage, were filled with wonder.”
बृहदश्व उवाच
The verse highlights the perceived legitimacy and auspiciousness that arise when a major life-rite (such as marriage) is sanctioned by higher powers and witnessed by the community of rulers; divine favor and public recognition together confer moral and social authority.
After granting boons to the concerned person, the gods return to heaven. The assembled earthly kings, having seen the wedding, are left amazed at what they have witnessed.
