यक्षने पूछा--अकेला कौन विचरता है? एक बार उत्पन्न होकर पुन: कौन उत्पन्न होता है? शीतकी ओषधि क्या है? और महान् आवपन (क्षेत्र) क्या है? ।। युधिछिर उवाच सूर्य एको विचरते चन्द्रमा जायते पुनः । अग्निर्हिमस्य भैषज्यं भूमिरावपनं महत्,युधिष्ठिर बोले--सूर्य अकेला विचरता है, चन्द्रमा एक बार जन्म लेकर पुनः जन्म लेता है, अग्नि शीतकी ओषधि है और पृथ्वी बड़ा भारी आवपन है
yudhiṣṭhira uvāca | sūrya eko vicarate candramā jāyate punaḥ | agnir himasya bhaiṣajyaṁ bhūmir āvāpanaṁ mahat ||
Yudhiṣṭhira said: “The Sun moves alone. The Moon, having been born once, is born again. Fire is the remedy for cold. And the Earth is the great field of sowing.” In these replies, he points to the solitary course of the sun, the moon’s recurring ‘rebirth’ through its waxing cycle, the ethical practicality of fire as protection against cold, and the earth as the vast ground where all actions and their fruits are ‘sown’ and borne.
