Educational Q&A

The verse underscores atithi-dharma: a guest should be honored with food, drink, and shelter, offered with respect and attentiveness. The maiden’s ever-increasing provisions model generosity and sustained care rather than minimal or reluctant giving.

Vaiśampāyana narrates that a maiden continually serves and honors a man/guest at all times, providing him with meals and lodging, and each day she increases the quantity and quality of what she offers.
