Sūrya-stava: Dhaumya’s Counsel and the Aṣṭaśata-nāma of Sūrya
संस्कृतं प्रसवं याति स्वल्पमन्नं चतुर्विधम् | अक्षय्यं वर्धते चान्नं तेन भोजयते द्विजान्,उसमें तैयार की हुई चार प्रकारकी थोड़ी-सी भी रसोई उस पात्रके प्रभावसे बढ़ जाती और अक्षय हो जाती थी। उसीसे वे ब्राह्मणोंको भोजन कराने लगे
saṃskṛtaṃ prasavaṃ yāti svalpam annaṃ caturvidham | akṣayyaṃ vardhate cānnaṃ tena bhojayate dvijān |
Vaiśaṃpāyana said: Even a small quantity of food—prepared in the four customary kinds—would, by the power of that vessel, multiply and become inexhaustible. With that ever-increasing supply they began to feed the twice-born (brāhmaṇas), fulfilling the duty of hospitality and sustaining dharma through giving.
