Sūrya’s Counsel to Karṇa on Indra’s Intended Request
Kuṇḍala–Kavaca Discourse
इति तस्य वच: श्रुत्वा वयमुत्थाय सत्वत:
iti tasya vacaḥ śrutvā vayam utthāya satvataḥ
Having heard his words, we immediately rose up with resolve, acting with steady courage and self-control.
मार्कण्डेय उवाच
The verse highlights prompt, disciplined action after receiving guidance: one should listen carefully and then respond with steadiness (sattva), not hesitation or impulsiveness.
Mārkaṇḍeya narrates that, after hearing someone’s statement or instruction, the group ('we') immediately stands up—signaling readiness to act and a transition to the next event.
