व्यसनं भवतश्चैदं संक्षेपाद्‌ वै निवेदितम्‌ । “सम्पाति जब इस तरहकी बातें कर रहा था, उस समय हमलोगोंने बताया कि जटायु मारे गये। साथ ही हमने संक्षेपसे आपके ऊपर आये हुए इस संकटका समाचार भी निवेदन कर दिया

vyasanaṃ bhavataś caidaṃ saṃkṣepād vai niveditam |

Markandeya said: “This calamity that has befallen you has been reported—indeed, in brief. While Sampāti was speaking in this manner, we informed him that Jaṭāyu had been slain, and we also conveyed, succinctly, the news of the crisis that had come upon you.”
