त॑ सदारो विनीतात्मा सुग्रीव: प्लवगाधिप: । पूजया प्रतिजग्राह प्रीयमाणस्तदर्हया
taṁ sadāro vinītātmā sugrīvaḥ plavagādhipaḥ | pūjayā pratijagrāha prīyamāṇas tad-arhayā ||
Then Sugrīva, lord of the monkeys, accompanied by his wife and possessed of a disciplined and courteous spirit, received him with due honors. Pleased by the fitting reverence shown, he accepted the welcome in a manner befitting righteous conduct and proper hospitality.
मार्कण्डेय उवाच
The verse highlights dharmic hospitality and royal decorum: a ruler should be self-controlled (vinītātmā) and receive others with fitting honor (tad-arhayā pūjayā), showing that ethical conduct is expressed through respectful welcome and proper etiquette.
Mārkaṇḍeya describes Sugrīva, the monkey-king, accompanied by his wife, receiving a visitor respectfully. Sugrīva is pleased by the propriety of the occasion and accepts the reception with due honor.
