Mārkaṇḍeya said: Rāma, together with Lakṣmaṇa, being protected under Sugrīva’s guardianship, dwelt upon the slopes of Mount Mālyavat. After some time, when the season had cleared, they beheld the sky become pure and cloudless—an outward sign that the time for renewed effort and faithful action had arrived.

Educational Q&A

The verse highlights dharmic perseverance supported by righteous alliance: when protected by a trustworthy ally (Sugrīva), one can endure hardship and, when conditions become favorable (the sky clearing), renew purposeful action rather than remain in grief or delay.

Mārkaṇḍeya narrates that Rāma and Lakṣmaṇa are living on Mount Mālyavat under Sugrīva’s protection; after time passes and the rainy season ends, they see the sky become clear—setting the stage for the next phase of the search for Sītā.
