Sāvitrī’s Dialogue with Yama and the Restoration of Satyavān
इत्येतन्मृगशावाक्षी तच्छुत्वा त्रिजटावच: । बभूवाशावती बाला पुनर्भतृसमागमे,त्रिजटाकी यह बात सुनकर मृगशावक-से नेत्रोंवाली सीताको पुनः पतिदेवसे मिलनेकी आशा बँध गयी
ity etan mṛgaśāvākṣī tac chrutvā trijaṭāvacaḥ | babhūvāśāvatī bālā punar bhartuḥ samāgame ||
Hearing these words spoken by Trijaṭā, the young Sītā—whose eyes were like those of a fawn—became filled with renewed hope that she would once again be reunited with her husband. The passage underscores how truthful counsel and compassionate reassurance can restore courage and steadfastness in the face of suffering.
मार्कण्डेय उवाच
The verse highlights the ethical power of truthful, compassionate speech: wise reassurance can revive hope and steadiness in someone overwhelmed by fear or grief, supporting dharma through encouragement rather than despair.
Mārkaṇḍeya narrates that Sītā, after hearing Trijaṭā’s words, regains hope of being reunited with her husband (Rāma), indicating a turning point from despondency to renewed confidence.
