मा विषीद नरव्याप्र नैष कश्रिन्मयि स्थिते | छिन्ध्यस्य दक्षिणं बाहुं छिन्न: सव्यो मया भुज:,“नरश्रेष्ठी तुम खेद न करो। मेरे रहते यह राक्षस कोई चीज नहीं है; इससे तुम्हें कोई हानि नहीं पहुँच सकती। तुम इसकी दाहिनी बाँह काट डालो। मैं बायीं भुजा काट रहा हूँ!
mā viṣīda naravyāghra naiṣa kaścin mayi sthite | chindhy asya dakṣiṇaṃ bāhuṃ chinnaḥ savyo mayā bhujaḥ ||
Mārkaṇḍeya said: “Do not grieve, O tiger among men. While I stand here, this rākṣasa is nothing; he cannot harm you. Cut off his right arm—his left arm has already been severed by me.”
मार्कण्डेय उवाच
Do not succumb to despair in the face of violence; steadiness and confidence grounded in righteous support (here, the sage’s protection) enable decisive action against wrongdoing.
Mārkaṇḍeya reassures a heroic man during a fight with a rākṣasa, declaring the demon powerless in his presence and coordinating the combat: he has cut the rākṣasa’s left arm and instructs the hero to cut the right arm.
