यदृच्छयाथ तद् रक्ष: करे जग्राह लक्ष्मणम् | विषादमगमत् सद्यः सौमित्रिरथ भारत,वह एक राक्षस था। उसने सहसा आकर लक्ष्मणका एक हाथ पकड़ लिया। भारत! यह देख सुमित्रानन्दन लक्ष्मण तत्काल बहुत दुःखी हो गये
yadṛcchayātha tad rakṣaḥ kare jagrāha lakṣmaṇam | viṣādam agamat sadyaḥ saumitrir atha bhārata ||
Markandeya said: “Then, by chance, that rākṣasa seized Lakṣmaṇa by the hand. O Bhārata, seeing this, Saumitri (Lakṣmaṇa), the son of Sumitrā, was at once overcome with deep distress.”
मार्कण्डेय उवाच
