“O knower of dharma, tell me without any doubt what is best in this matter. For I shall carry out all of that exactly, in accordance with your instruction.”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse emphasizes seeking śreyas—the truly beneficial and ethically superior course—by consulting a dharma-knower, and then committing to follow that guidance precisely and without hesitation.
In Vaiśampāyana’s narration, a speaker appeals to a recognized authority on dharma, requesting a clear, doubt-free recommendation about the best course of action and pledging faithful compliance with the instruction given.
