Vaiśampāyana said: Thus praised by Kṛṣṇā (Draupadī), the Lord—ever tender toward His devotees—understood that Draupadī had fallen into distress. Knowing her peril, the God of gods, the Lord of the world, turned His attention to her plight.
वैशग्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights the Mahābhārata’s bhakti-ethic: sincere praise and surrender draw the Lord’s compassionate attention, and divine care is portrayed as especially responsive to a devotee’s distress (bhaktavatsala).
After Draupadī extols the Lord, He perceives that she is in danger. The narration emphasizes His immediate awareness and readiness to respond to her संकट (crisis).
