सत्यवादी लभेतायुरनायासमथार्जवम् | अक्रोधनो5नसूयश्न निर्वतिं लभते पराम्,'सत्यवादी मनुष्य दीर्घ आयु, क्लेशशून्यता (सुख) तथा सरलता प्राप्त करता है। जो क्रोध नहीं करता और दूसरोंके दोष नहीं देखता है, उसे परमानन्दपदकी प्राप्ति होती है
satyavādī labhetāyur anāyāsam athārjavam | akrodhano 'nasūyaś ca nirvṛtiṁ labhate parām ||
Vaiśampāyana said: “One who speaks the truth gains long life, an ease free from strain, and straightforwardness of character. One who is free from anger and who does not fault-find in others attains the highest peace and contentment.”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Truthfulness supports longevity, ease, and integrity; freedom from anger and from fault-finding leads to the highest inner peace (nirvṛti).
Vaiśampāyana, in the course of his narration, states a dharma-teaching in aphoristic form, praising truthfulness and self-restraint as causes of well-being and supreme tranquility.
