Vaiśampāyana said: “This, indeed, I know to be the great means of winning over one’s husband. But the practices resorted to by immoral women—I neither adopt them nor do I desire them.”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse contrasts righteous, principled means of harmonizing marital life with the unethical tactics attributed to immoral conduct, affirming a commitment to virtue and self-restraint even when seeking influence or reconciliation.
In Vaiśampāyana’s narration, a woman’s stance is reported: she acknowledges a ‘great’ proper method for winning her husband’s goodwill, while explicitly rejecting the questionable practices associated with immoral women.
