Mārkaṇḍeya said: When Devasenā obtained Skanda as her eternal husband, then Lakṣmī—herself the embodied goddess—took refuge in him. In the narrative frame, this affirms that divine fortune and splendor naturally abide where rightful union, steadfastness, and ordained order are established.
मार्कण्डेय उवाच
Prosperity and auspicious splendor (Lakṣmī) are portrayed as naturally aligning with rightful, stable, and divinely sanctioned order—here symbolized by Devasenā’s attainment of Skanda as her eternal husband.
Mārkaṇḍeya narrates that once Devasenā gains Skanda as her everlasting spouse, Lakṣmī herself, in embodied form, comes to dwell with (take refuge in) him—marking the union as fully auspicious and divinely endorsed.
