Mārkaṇḍeya said: Wearing two spotless garments dyed red, Skanda—the son of Fire—shone with a radiant, auspicious body. He appeared like the sun (Aṃśumān) adorned with two crimson clouds, his brilliance heightened rather than concealed, conveying the majesty of divine power presented in disciplined, pure form.
मार्कण्डेय उवाच
The verse links outer appearance to inner qualities: purity (araje) and disciplined splendor (śrīmān, dīptavapuḥ) frame divine power as auspicious and ethically ordered, not chaotic—radiance that elevates rather than corrupts.
Mārkaṇḍeya describes Skanda’s striking appearance: he wears two clean red garments and shines brilliantly, compared to the sun beautified by two crimson clouds—an image emphasizing his divine majesty.
