Mārkaṇḍeya said: “O revered one, by your gracious favor, accomplish this dear wish of ours: may we become mothers of the highest excellence in the whole world, and by your blessing may we always be regarded as worthy of honor.”
मार्कण्डेय उवाच
The verse highlights the ethical power of prasāda (grace): rightful honor and auspicious outcomes are sought not through coercion but through a revered person’s benevolent blessing, emphasizing humility and the dharmic value of being worthy of respect.
In Mārkaṇḍeya’s narration, the maidens express their cherished request as a boon: that they become supremely excellent mothers and remain perpetually honored, asking the revered figure to fulfill it through his favor.
