पञ्चवर्णोत्पत्तिः — The Origin of the Five-Colored Fiery Being and Ritual-Disruptor Lineages
प्राज्ञो धर्मेण रमते धर्म चैवोपजीवति । तस्माद् धर्मादवाप्तेन धनेन द्विजसत्तम
prājño dharmeṇa ramate dharma caivopajīvati | tasmād dharmād avāptena dhanena dvijasattama
The wise person delights in dharma and lives by dharma alone. Therefore, O best of the twice-born, one should sustain oneself with wealth obtained through that very dharma.
व्याध उवाच
True wisdom is to take joy in dharma and to make dharma the basis of one’s livelihood; wealth should be accepted only when it is acquired through righteous means.
The hunter (vyādha) instructs a Brahmin, emphasizing that a genuinely wise person both delights in dharma and sustains life through it, urging him to rely on wealth earned righteously.
