tathā kariṣye yatnena bhavataḥ śāsana vibho | na me lobho 'sti viprendra na bhayaṃ na ca matsaraḥ ||
Yudhiṣṭhira said: “So shall I do, with earnest effort, in accordance with your command, O mighty one. In me there is no greed, O best of brāhmaṇas—nor fear, nor envy.”
युधिछिर उवाच
The verse highlights dharmic character: one should follow righteous instruction with diligence while remaining free from the inner faults of greed (lobha), fear (bhaya), and envy (matsara).
Yudhiṣṭhira responds respectfully to an authoritative figure—addressed as a powerful one and as a foremost brāhmaṇa—affirming that he will carry out the given command and asserting his inner steadiness and lack of selfish motives.
