उत्तङ्कोपाख्यानप्रारम्भः — Uttanka’s Tapas, Viṣṇu-stuti, and the Dhundhumāra Prophecy

Opening

इस प्रकार श्रीमहाभारत वनपर्वके अन्तर्गत मार्कण्डेयसमास्यापर्वमें भविष्यवर्णनणविषयक एक सौ नब्बेवाँ अध्याय पूरा हुआ

iti prakāraṁ śrīmahābhārate vanaparvake antargataṁ mārkaṇḍeyasamāsyāparvaṇi bhaviṣyavarṇana-viṣayaka ekaśata-nabbevāṁ adhyāyaḥ pūrṇaḥ

Thus ends the one hundred and ninety-second chapter of the Vana Parva of the Śrī Mahābhārata, within the Markandeya-Samāsya section, dealing with the description of what is to come. It functions as a formal colophon, marking the completion of the chapter and framing the preceding discourse as a forward-looking moral and narrative account.

Educational Q&A

This line primarily serves as a colophon rather than a doctrinal verse: it teaches how the Mahābhārata self-organizes its narrative into parvas and adhyāyas, and it frames the preceding material as a purposeful account concerning future events (bhaviṣya-varṇana).

The text signals closure: it announces that the 192nd chapter of the Vana Parva—within the Markandeya-Samāsya section, focused on describing future developments—has been completed.
