The Vāmadeva Horses Episode and the Ethics of Promise

The Deity said: “In every way you are established in Me; My very Self—who brings all beings into manifestation—stands revealed. Whatever hardship you have endured by coming near Me, O brāhmaṇa, becomes the means of your future welfare and happiness. O sinless one, whatever moving or unmoving thing you have seen in the world is nothing but My own being, the source of creatures, appearing in that form. And Brahmā, the grandsire of all the worlds, is as it were half of My body.”
