Educational Q&A

The verse stresses the transcendence of the Divine: even celestial beings cannot fully grasp the Lord’s true essence. Genuine understanding is granted through grace, here prompted by the sage’s devotion, and is expressed as a revelation of how the cosmos is manifested.

A divine speaker addresses a brahmin sage and begins a disclosure. He notes that even the gods lack complete knowledge of his true nature, then promises—out of affection—to explain the process by which he creates or manifests the world.
